The Chicago Fire are hosting a massive watch-party experience for all Chicago soccer fans at Recess, home to Chicago’s largest patio. Recess will become the ultimate physical destination for Chicago soccer fans this summer. And today, the Chicago Fire FC app transforms into the ultimate digital destination, with its new Soccer Celebration digital takeover.

The pre-promotional Soccer Celebration app hub is now live, before June 11. Fans can head to Recess to watch every match, look up the match schedule, get Know Before You Go information with device-specific directions (Apple Maps for iOS and Google Maps for Android). On June 11, the complete Soccer Celebration hub goes live and runs through July 19.

One quick tap on the floating Home button takes you straight back into the regular Fire app, just in case you’re interested in browsing the Fire schedule, stats, and more. You choose your experience, in just one tap.

How do you bring fans back for every match of a 46-match season?

Leicester City built and ran the ultimate Match Predictor inside their club app. Prior to kickoff of every match, fans were able to lock in their predictions to five match-related questions. The club sent pre-matchday and on-matchday pushes to remind fans to lock in their picks.

What will the full-time score be? 20 points.
When will the first goal be scored? 30 points.
Which team will have the most possession? 5 points.
Which side will score first? 10 points.
How many shots will there be overall? 10 points.

The Leicester City app then awarded points to fans for every correct prediction. Fans also got a minimum of 5 points per match for participating, and a bonus of 10 extra points for playing the Predictor every match in a given month.

It wasn’t just points. There was a leaderboard. There were prizes. The club ran two prizes every month: one for the highest score and one spot prize. The club had end-of-season prizes for the top three fans, with the overall winner receiving two season tickets.

Points, prizes, and pushes combined to drive continued fan participation. The results: some impressive dwell-time numbers. Leicester City fans have spent a total of 7.19 million seconds (~1,996 hours) in the club app on the Predictor alone since the feature launched. A total of 6,910,204 individual pushes were received by fans, and, yes, for the Predictor alone. And the top fan this past season ended up playing the Predictor in all 46 matches. If that’s not loyalty, I don’t know what is.

Foxes never quit. And neither does their Predictor.

Austin FC turns their app into a digital guide for Austin soccer fans this summer.

Austin FC has created intentional physical destinations for thousands of soccer fans to gather, connect, and celebrate in the city for the duration of the World Cup. Two venues: Auditorium Shores (June 11–12) and Casa VERDE at Inn Cahoots (June 13 – July 19). Free daily watch parties spanning 39 incredible days and 104 matches.

And the Austin FC app has transformed into the ultimate digital companion for Austin soccer fans. An app takeover to match (pun fully intended) the tournament takeover of the city of Austin. A digital Soccer Celebration hub, with the app completely refreshed to deliver up-to-date information on the watch parties: where, when, and how. The hub includes details of the two special venues, the match-watching schedules, the tournament stages, how to register, and how to get there. All in Austin FC’s branding.

Austin FC President Andy Loughnane said: “From Auditorium Shores to East Austin and across the community, we’re creating spaces where fans can come together, connect, and watch every match of the tournament for 39 incredible days.”

How does an NBA team serve its growing Hispanic fanbase?

The Charlotte Hornets answered that question by building a fully localized Spanish experience into their app, on both iOS and Android.

The entire Hornets app adapts automatically to the fan’s device language settings. If the fan sets their device to Spanish, they see the Spanish version of the app. If they set it to English, they see the English version.

The English and Spanish versions of the Hornets app remain identical in app layout, user journeys, and the core fan experience. The content is authentically translated and rendered, with a fully bilingual Game Center (yes, even the stats), player profiles, navigation labels, menus, home feed, content cards, live game experiences, and ticketing flows. Yes, all of it. Translated and rendered.

Personalization should be this easy. No cognitive load on the fan. No mental translation. For the fan, this is their language and their choice, naturally showing up in their app, making it their team.

Stafford Braxton puts it best, “In the Carolinas, we are proud to serve a strong and rapidly growing Hispanic community whose culture is deeply woven into the fabric of both our team and our city. Launching the Spanish-language version of our app was a natural and important step in that journey. It allows us to better connect with our Spanish-speaking fans, making our content more accessible, inclusive, and engaging.”

How does a club pull off a digital tribute for a legend?

I give you the Landon Donovan digital takeover in the LA Galaxy app.

A complete app homepage takeover for a defining player. His career. His stats. 57 international goals. 6 MLS Cups. 1 MLS Cup MVP. His impact on the Galaxy. His top 10 moments. A schedule of multiple events to celebrate the legend. And all the details of his new memoir, Landon. This was exclusive content that you simply couldn’t find anywhere else. Other than in the Galaxy app.

The Landon takeover also contained a full celebration schedule building up to April 4th, the Galaxy home game where attending fans scored a Landon Donovan bobblehead. Even the matchday pages in the app took fans straight to this special Hub. Wherever fans opened the app, Landon was there. ⚽🌟

And the Landon hub isn’t going anywhere. This app takeover returns during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Because Landon Donovan’s story doesn’t just belong to the Galaxy. It belongs to U.S. soccer, too.

The Anaheim Ducks turn their app into a Wi-Fi concierge.

Every fan wants Wi-Fi. Every venue wants fans on their Wi-Fi.

The Anaheim Ducks app integrates directly with the SSID of the Honda Center’s Wi-Fi network. When a fan arrives at the arena, the app detects whether the fan’s device is connected to the OCVIBE network. If it is not, a sponsor-branded “Connect Easily” prompt surfaces on the app, displaying the device’s connectivity status and presenting a clear tap-to-connect button. A single tap takes the fan straight to the OCVIBE captive portal, powered by Cox Business, where the fan can register for Wi-Fi access. Once the fan’s device connects successfully, the fan is returned to the app, where a “You are now connected!” confirmation message is displayed.

No hunting for Wi-Fi networks. No guessing the SSID. The app knows. The app informs the fan. The app completes (and confirms) the connection.

YinzCam’s underlying app segmentation identifies connected and unconnected fans from within the Ducks app. The segmentation enables differentiated in-app journeys for fans, based on their device’s Wi-Fi connection status.

You are now connected. 📶🦆⚡

Every club wants to give season-ticket members a voice.

The Cincinnati Bengals built it.

Starting June 1, 2026, for two weeks, the Bengals mobile app hosts an exclusive digital fan ballot where season-ticket members (known as STREAK members) get to elect two legendary players to the Bengals Ring of Honor each year. The inductees will be announced at a regular-season game. Only STREAK members with their sustained loyalty, year after year, earn the right to vote.

The ballot unfolds in two phases. The first presents returning nominees; the second introduces new nominees for 2026. Before voting, each STREAK member can review the complete career history of every nominee: name, number, position, years of service, and a full bio.

To ensure the integrity of the ballot, the Bengals used YinzCam’s single sign-on and segmentation capabilities. Which means that the ballot surfaces only for verified STREAK members, and only within that voting period. One vote per member per round.

Giving Bengals season-ticket members the opportunity to decide who stands alongside the greats of Bengals history is, quite simply, what fan engagement should look like. It’s such a tangible way to acknowledge your season-ticket members, and to demonstrate their part (and their actual say) in the club’s history.

Q: How do you drive fans into your club app, and get them to stay there (and I mean, really stay there), during Schedule Release?

Watch what the Baltimore Ravens did.

For 2 hours of their 2026 Schedule Release, the Ravens kept fans in their club app. Using Limited Drops, they gave away tickets to every home game, one drop at a time, every 15 minutes.

And, of course, fans stayed in the Ravens app, watching the schedule being unveiled, watching people win tickets, all the while chatting with each other excitedly about the slate of games in the upcoming 2026 Ravens season.

The NFL Schedule Release is something every fan waits for and gets fired up about. This year, the Ravens didn’t make it a moment. They made it a 2-hour anticipate + chat + giveaway session. 2 hours. 10 games. 10 winners of tickets to those games. Only in their club app.

Kudos: Julianna Morraye, Dave Lang, Michelle Andres, I absolutely loved this. You built a live, 2-hour, mobile-first, water-cooler/chat-room around Schedule Release. You took that singular schedule-unveil moment, and creatively extended it into a 2-hour flurry of ticket drops, keeping fans in the app, maintaining fan excitement through it all. You got fans into your app, gave them a reason to stay, and gave them a way to talk to each other. And, the reward for fans who stayed in the app? A chance to nab tickets.

I mean, if that’s not fan engagement, I don’t know what is.
