New Jersey Devils app. There are two things I've absolutely fallen in love with.
The NJDTV Watch section. It's so visually clean. Up top, a hero image so rich it looks like you're staring at a TV set, and the hero images float on a sheet of ice (that's the background). Speak of the Devils. In The Room. Devils Now. One Time All Stars.
Drop down, past the sheet of ice. You'll see the Shows. Each show is built out as a series, marquee thumbnails, show description, episodes, Watch, Listen. Each one feels like its own mini TV series or channel, except you get to pick when you watch and listen.
Drop down again, into the Player Highlights. Stunning player images with a little video-play icon at the bottom right-hand corner (so creative to put that icon there, instead of right smack in the middle) that drop straight into those player-specific highlights, each appearing as a full vertical video.
My favorite part, though? During a game, a floaty, bright, Devils-red, Listen Live button hovers on the home screen, right above the bottom navigation menu. It's always there during the game, and you can see it on other pages, too. Tap it, and the game's audio commentary starts playing. Live. In the app. And, wait for it. You can keep browsing the rest of the app. The audio stream turns into a little sticky banner that anchors itself above the bottom nav and just stays there, following you around the app. My commentary follows me around the app, always in the background, while I dig into the stats.
As a hockey fan, I want the audio and I want the stats during a live game. I shouldn't have to choose. And, in the Devils app, I don't need to. I get to watch the game, my way.
The devil is in the details (sorry, not sorry, I'm a sucker for a good pun).
That's why I love this.
❤️🖤 Michael Rich, Marc Ciampa, Kevin McMorrow, big, big, big, big fan of yours here. You know how much I love your work. Every time I look at your app, the level of thought, intention, clarity, and visual aesthetics that you put into it, always blows me away.
