Some games are just bigger. Blue Hell kind of bigger.
Sporting Kansas City vs. St. Louis CITY SC is Blue Hell, one of the fiercest rivalries in MLS. And, for rivalry week, from August 16-20, the Sporting KC app brought Blue Hell into the app.
When you opened the app this past week, a goosebumpy hype reel greeted you right at the top: fan passion, the noise, and pure electricity. This is a rivalry, and the home page feels like it.
Then the hunt began.
๐ต The Blue Hell Hunt: find all five devil characters hidden across the app. The four Azulitos, and their new friend, Helly the Hell Cat.
๐ต Track your progress right on the home page as you go.
๐ต Find all five characters, and one lucky winner takes four Shield Club tickets to Ted Lasso Night on August 29. Logged in and connected to SeatGeek, 18 and up, one entry per fan.
๐ต The Gameday Honoree, featured front and center.
๐ต Gameday utilities, including your mobile wallet, tickets, rewards, and offersโright where you need them.
๐ต And a (Blue) Hell of a lot of content to close it out. A rivalry game is more than just a moment. Itโs a fierce week-long celebration.
Hunting the devils in Blue Hell week.
On-brand. On-point. Creative. Fun. Goosebumpy.
This is a rivalry game done right, in digital.
Only in the Sporting KC app.
๐ ๐ช๐ด๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฒ. Bexi Castillo, Caroline Roche, Samantha Garcรญa, and Haley Brantingham, thank you so much for your collaboration and enthusiasm with all of the digital takeovers we get to create with you. We love that youโre using the in-app digital treasure-hunt so extensively, and in such creative, fun ways. This has now become a best practice in our platform. And, the way you pulled off such a creative digital takeover for a rivalry game is one for the books. That hype video, on opening up the app, gave me chills in the best possible way.
๐ฌ ๐ข๐ฑ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐ณ๐ฒ. Aislinn Keenan and Monica Crowsey for the build. Ana Baskinger for the ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ฑ ๐๐ข๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด graphic.
